Question:

If the deductible is over $2,000, what amount should I ask patient to pay me? I always tell my front desk to charge the standard fee that we charge self-paying patients, is this correct?

Answer: (ELIZAVETA BANNOVA, CPC, CPCO, CPMA, CFPC, CMRS,ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE AT WCH SERVICE BUREAU BILLING DEPARTMENT)

Yes, you can charge practice customary fee for a service patient received. Deductible could be collected up front or after insurance claims processing, but keep in mind, whichever way you choose you will need to have a financial policy in place outlining the process. To avoid unnecessary reconciliation, consider charging fees as close as possible to your contracted fees or insurance fee schedule
