The long story of canceling KX modifier usage and any additional payment after PT cap is reached kept therapists feel uneasy. Delays of consideration by Congress intensified unclear situation and vague future of claims and so put therapists into frustration. Put KX or not? Get ABN or not?
Finally, as of February 9, 2018, the President signed a budget bill with permanent repeal of therapy cap on Medicare outpatient services.
Current PT cap for 2018 is $2010 for outpatient physical therapy/speech-language and $2010 occupational therapy. The targeted review will apply to claims after exceeding amount of $3000 instead of $3700 in previous years.
