WellCare/ Fidelis Care | Transition of Care for WellCare Member Moving to Fidelis Care
WellCare members who are
enrolled in Medicaid, Child Health Plus, Essential Plan, and Managed Long Term
Care products will soon receive a letter informing them that their coverage
will be issued by Fidelis Care, effective
June 1, 2020.
As you know, Centene, which
operates as Fidelis Care in New York State, completed its acquisition of
WellCare in January.
If you are currently treating
WellCare members, please be aware of the key messages contained in the letter
members will receive:
- The member’s insurance coverage is not changing, and their benefits will remain the same
- There is nothing the member needs to do to retain their coverage with Fidelis Care
- Members will receive a new insurance card from Fidelis Care. They should begin using this card for services received as of June 1, 2020
If you have any questions, please contact your WellCare Provider Relations Representative or the WellCare Provider Service team at 1-800-288-5441. You may also contact your Fidelis Care Provider Relations Representative.
Fidelis Care will honor all WellCare authorization approvals that include dates of service beyond May 31, 2020. Beginning on May 18, 2020, providers can contact Fidelis Care by phone 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547) or fax (1-800-860-8720) for authorization, if services will be rendered after June 1.
For requests involving dates of service June 1, 2020 and beyond, Fidelis Care will follow The Medicaid Model Contract requirements pertaining to the transition of care: 90 days for Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Essential Plan members; and 120 days for Fidelis Care at Home (managed long-term care) members.
Authorizations already processed by WellCare for any services after June 1 will be moved to Fidelis Care, and there will be no need for the provider or member to request these services again.
